TROPEA: Italy. The flat (a converted 1720s palace) where I stayed, and where DEADLY SWITCH is set
As a writer of mystery/suspense novels, I believe that an edge-of-your-seat plot is essential to keep readers turning the page. As a voracious reader myself, I know that’s what I want when indulging in a good story. However, I also know that well-developed characters (flaws and all) and “setting” are equally, if not more, important. My favorite reviews of DEADLY SWITCH: A Stone Suspense, are the ones that say they were whisked off to the lush descriptions and ambiance of Italy. Many say they could hear the sounds, smell the scents, and feel they were right there.
As I’m about to embark on my third trip to Italy over the past two years, I’ve been wracking my brain as to how I can take you along with me. That is if you want to sense the sights and sound—and food—of Calabria and Sicily. Would you like to experience all this (and more) at YOUR leisure, and not be bombarded with emails and blog posts?
- a signed copy of DEADLY SWITCH: A Stone Suspense
- a beautiful, hand-painted “accordion book” card depicting a stunning collage of Sicily by talented artist, Mary Lou Peters
- an authentic Calabrese recipe I learned to prepare and enjoyed al fresco, in the hills of Tropea—where my novel is set (each month I’ll share a different recipe)
Both times I was in Italy previously (researching my second book), I posted some photos on my Facebook page. To be honest, I was a little hesitant in case people thought I was bragging or inundating them with too much stuff about me. To my surprise, I got just the opposite response; I received many thank yous and compliments for sharing what I did. Most folks wanted more.
In addition, I’ve been looking for ways to connect more with my readers and reward you for your loyalty and recommending my book to others. That, and readers writing a review, are the biggest compliments an author can receive. As I now get to travel to locations in my books—and I’m a unabashed foodie—a monthly contest seemed a fun and effective way to do that.
If you’re already receiving my newsletter, then please go and “like” my Facebook Author Page. It’s as simple as that! If you’ve already done that too, and would like to have your name in the contest, just drop me a note by clicking here and I’ll be sure you get in the draw.
Oh, and by the way…just to keep everyone honest, I’ll post a little video on my website when I do the draw in June, and you can see whose name is drawn. I hope it’s you!
If you win and already have my first book, DEADLY SWITCH, you can choose to have an additional copy as a gift, OR you’ll be one of the first to receive the second book in the series, Scare Away the Dark. If you liked the characters in book number one, I promise you won’t be disappointed with the sequel.
Okay then, so if you’re interested in receiving a free, signed book, a beautiful hand-painted art card, AND an authentic Calabrian/Sicilian recipe, just go here to sign up for my monthly newsletter, or here to “like” my Facebook Author Page.
I’ll talk with you again in June!
