The (book) Baby is Almost Birthed!

With so many of you asking, “So how’s the book coming?” I’m beginning to feel like a woman who is still lumbering around at nine and a half months pregnant. I think what you’re all really asking is, “Haven’t you finished that darned thing yet!?

So, I’m writing this post to bring you up to speed on what actually IS happening with my book!

The first draft of “DEADLY SWITCH: A Stone Suspense,” went out to 13 beta readers, all of whom contributed enormously in their own unique way. Some had eagle eyes for typos, grammar and better ways of wording things. Others offered marvelous ideas for plot and structure issues that I either hadn’t thought about or was stumped by. I would say that I made 95 percent of their suggested changes. To them, I send a huge virtual hug and endless gratitude. You know who you are and I’ll be honoring you more properly in the Acknowledgements section of the book.

This past Friday, the finished manuscript went to my editor. And now I’m waiting to exhale. Then the last set of revisions begin and the manuscript goes back out to readers for one more proof-read.

In the meantime, I have been fortunate enough to hire an award-winning book cover designer and I am thrilled beyond belief to have chosen his second design.

If you’ve already seen the new cover on Facebook, simply roll your eyes and say quietly to yourself, “Will she never put this thing to rest?” It’s my first real book; what can I say?

The expected release date for DEADLY SWITCH to be on Amazon, both as an e-book and in print version, is just prior to Christmas. Having said that, if I can’t get the editorial revisions done in time (we leave for Mexico December 16) then it will be very shortly afterward in January. I refuse to put out a book that is not as perfect as it can be.

At this point however, I am gearing everything toward a pre-Christmas release, so please send all your good vibes my way and say a little prayer that I don’t want to slit my throat after my editor gets back to me!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the sincere interest that you have expressed in my work and the unconditional love and support that I have felt from each of you.

I promise to let you know how and where you can get my book, along with some pre-release surprises!

    Hi Karen,
I loved the book cover. Hope that you do not mind me saying that for me there was an essence of a Nancy Drew sort of look and I always felt inclined to want to read that particular look. I am anxious to hear other's comments! Suzanne from the Voter's lounge-ha.

Ooh, I love that Suzanne. Although my particular book is not Nancy Drew-ish, I devoured those books as a kid. Thank you so much for taking the time to comment on my cover:)
